Attending the Christmas Festival

2021 Performance Dates

  • Friday, December 3, 2021 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, December 4, 2021 at 7:30 p.m.
  • Sunday, December 5, 2021 at 3 p.m.

COVID-19 Policies and Requirements

All guests will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination prior to entering either the concert or the Scandinavian dinners. Additionally, all guests are required to wear a mask at all times, except while dining. No exceptions will be made for either of these requirements.Both printed and digital COVID-19 vaccination records will be accepted as proof. Please plan to bring vaccination documentation with you to campus, as you will need to show proof prior to proceeding to the dinner or concert. If you show proof of vaccination in Buntrock Commons, you may bypass the vaccination checkpoint at Skoglund Auditorium.

No exceptions will be made for the proof of vaccination requirement. Individuals unable to provide proof of vaccination will not be allowed into the dinners or concerts.

For those unable to participate in person, the concert will be live-streamed for free on Sunday, December 5th at 3 p.m. on St. Olaf’s website.

Arrival Instructions

Please print the PDF of your tickets or present them on a smart device in order to gain entry to the concert.

You are strongly encouraged to arrive at least 60-75 minutes early to allow sufficient time to find parking, walk to the venue, and show proof of COVID-19 vaccine, which will be required for entry. Long lines are expected. Plan to be in your seats 15 minutes before the concert begins. Note that you may have to walk some distance from where you park on campus, and that the crowd in the entrance foyer can be large. Restroom lines may be long.

The Buntrock Commons ticket information desk (lower level) is staffed Thursday-Saturday from 4:30- 7:00p.m. and Sunday noon-2:30pm. The Skoglund box office will open 1 hour before each concert.

To avoid disruption of the Christmas Festival, do not bring or use a camera or video and audio recording equipment in Skoglund Center Auditorium.  Please silence or turn off cellphones.

Note that children under age 12 are not admitted into the concert.

Dining on Campus

In Buntrock Commons, a Scandinavian buffet is available in the Ballrooms, and a similar buffet is available in Stav Hall. Reservations are not required or offered at this time. Upon arrival into the Buntrock Commons building, you will be required to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination before continuing on to the dinner location of your choice. In order to be on time for the concert, you must be seated for dinner no later than 6:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, and by 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

  • Ballrooms – $28.50 per person

Getting Here

St. Olaf offers an interactive map, driving directions, and a list of local accommodations and restaurants.

Parking is available in any campus lot. Handicapped parking is available near the Skoglund Center entrance. Please check with staff members directing traffic for specific parking areas.

Courtesy shuttle buses are provided from Buntrock Commons to Skoglund Center beginning 75 minutes before each performance and running continuously until the start of the performance. Following the performances, the courtesy buses will run from Skoglund Center to Buntrock Commons. Expect a 15-minute wait or longer when departing as buses may be caught in traffic.

Coat Check

The St. Olaf women’s softball team will provide a coat check service in Skoglund Center during the concert. Contributions are appreciated.

Hearing Assistance

Skoglund Center is equipped with a hearing assistance system. Please ask an usher for a receiver.

Accessible Seating

Skoglund Center is wheelchair and scooter accessible, and designated floor-level seating is offered on a limited basis. Please email christmas-festival@stolaf.edu or call 507-786-3811 for assistance with special seating arrangements.

Additional Events

Many additional events take place during the Christmas Festival, including performances by St. Olaf Handbell Choirs, the Norsemen Band Singalong, Bookstore author signings, worship services, and more.
